Taylor Swift ‘Shakes Off’ Plaintiff’s Lawsuit

Taylor Swift is shaking it off, but we’re keeping our fandom on at fanpage.com!

Someone really took the line, haters gonna hate a little too seriously in recent news.  Apparently, Jesse Braham (a.k.a. Jesse Graham) – who no one’s ever heard of – decided to sue Taylor Swift for having stolen his alleged song lyrics.

The not-so-famous singer/songwriter, claimed our 1989-born diva, Taylor Swift, stole the lyrics to her popular hit Shake It Off -which was released in 2014- from a song he’d written entitled, Haters Gonna Hate, years prior. Because he was the first one to come up with those lyrics in a song, don’t ya know.

Braham was suing the 25-year old pop artist for $42 million in damages, and he actually thought he had a chance.

It was reported that three weeks ago, the judge overseeing the case- who apparently has an awesome sense of humor – handed down her verdict with a rather clever choice of wording,

“At present, the Court is not saying that Braham can never, ever, ever get his case back in court. But, for now, we have got problems, and the Court is not sure Braham can solve them. As currently drafted, the Complaint has a blank space— one that requires Braham to do more than write his name. And, upon consideration of the Court’s explanation in Part II, Braham may discover that mere pleading Band-Aids will not fix the bullet holes in his case. At least for the moment, Defendants have shaken off this lawsuit.”

If I’m ever in a court battle, I’d like this judge to be handling my case; even if I lose, at least she’s funny.

We are so happy to know that Taylor made it out of court rather…swiftly, as it were, without any damage done to her ego or her wallet.

Swift is currently on her 1989 world tour which has done phenomenally well. Presently in Asia, she is tearing up the stage in Shanghai, until November 28 when she will land in Australia. From there, she will conclude the tour on December 12 in Melbourne.
